Course Content

Introduction to Workplace Health & Safety
Safety is a shared responsibility. This module introduces the legal "Duty of Care" that exists in every European workplace. You will learn that while the employer must provide a safe environment, the employee is legally obligated to follow safety instructions. We will explore the "Safety Culture" of Ireland, Portugal, and Luxembourg, where reporting a hazard is seen as a sign of professional excellence, not "tattling."

  • 1. The Legal Framework: Duty of Care
  • 2. The Hierarchy of Responsibility
  • 3. Understanding “Safety Culture”
  • 4. Why Safety Matters (The Triple Bottom Line)
  • Quiz: Introduction to H&S

Identifying Workplace Hazards
A hazard is anything with the potential to cause harm. This module focuses on developing your "Safety Eyes"—the ability to scan an environment and identify risks before they lead to an accident. In the diverse workplaces of Ireland, Portugal, and Luxembourg, hazards are not always obvious. You will learn to categorize hazards into specific groups and understand the basic principles of Risk Assessment, ensuring you can work safely in hotels, hospitals, or industrial sites.

Accident Prevention & Reporting
Most workplace accidents do not "just happen"—they are the result of a chain of events that could have been broken. This module teaches you how to break that chain. You will learn the importance of the "Near-Miss" as a warning sign and master the professional procedures for reporting incidents. In Ireland, Portugal, and Luxembourg, accurate reporting is a legal requirement that helps companies learn from mistakes to ensure they never happen again.

Emergency Awareness
In an emergency, every second counts. This module prepares you to act decisively rather than react with panic. You will learn to recognize different emergency signals and understand your specific role in safeguarding guests, patients, or colleagues. Whether it is a fire, a medical crisis, or a building-wide evacuation, this training ensures you know the "Exit Strategy" for the workplaces of Ireland, Portugal, and Luxembourg.
